Coaching Experience, Skating Background and Additional Training

As a competitive skater, I earned Gold Medals in Figures, FreeSkate, Ice Dance, and 4th and 3rd Class International Skating Union tests. I was a Junior Ladies competitive skater who trained with Mr. Louis Stong until retiring from competition. I have attained Provincial level status and my 35 + years coaching in all disciplines, including CanSkate, StarSkate and competitive streams has allowed me to enjoy coaching skaters of all levels, from beginner to adult.

Coaching Philosophy

I endeavour to bring joy, learning and a love of skating into the time spent with each of the students I work with. My goal is to bring out the best in every skater through an engaging and fun lesson. The impact I leave on each skater is important to me and I coach with professionalism, warmth and patience

Additional Information

From 1990-1993 I was a skater/performer with Disney On Ice and travelled the world. I learned so much from my experiences and thank the sport of figure skating for that opportunity. As a former preschool teacher, I love being able to also take that knowledge and work with children in Skate Oakville, which has been my coaching “home” since 2000. Making meaningful connections and ongoing relationships with skaters and their families has been rewarding and I look forward to making more.

Area of Specialty

I work with other coaches in a team atmosphere where needed. I focus on technique in jumps, spins, skills and dance.
