Our Team
Skate Oakville is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors consisting of dedicated skating parents who donate their time and expertise to our club. We have dedicated office staff that take care of the day to day operations of the club. We also have parent volunteers that provide assistance in running special events such as galas, test days, competitions, banquets and more!

Office Staff
Joni McPhail - Executive Director
Joni was hired as the Technical Director for Oakville Skating Club in 2008 and is now the Executive Director for the much larger and restructured Skate Oakville.
At Skate Oakville, Joni oversees the programming and delivery of the Learn to Skate, STARSkate, Competitive, Dance and Synchro programs for one of the largest figure skating clubs in Canada. Joni is also responsible for recruiting and managing the coaching staff, office staff, programs for skater development and addressing the needs of the Club’s 2,300 members.
Joni has been involved in figure skating for over 50 years. As a figure skater, Joni was the former British Columbia and Canadian Novice Ladies Champion.
Joni has almost 30 years of experience as a certified NCCP Level 4 Coach in both British Columbia and Ontario and is also a qualified Base level official. Joni is a former member of the Coaches Committee for Skate Canada COS (Central Ontario Section, since amalgamated to Skate Ontario), and was previously the High-Performance Director for Skate Canada BC section, where she selected skaters for the Canada Winter Games, athlete funding and inclusion on the provincial team.
Joni was a broadcaster for the 1997 and 1998 World Figure Skating Championships and was part of the CTV team for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Joni also has been a guest presenter at the Skate Canada Ice Summit and continues to support events with Skate Ontario and Skate Canada.
