Coaching Philosophy

I encourage an intense but positive training plan. I believe you have to understand the skater in order to work with them towards their potential. Every skater has different needs and personalities and a great coach can understand how to coach each skater differently to help them get to their goals. I expect my skaters to work hard but also enjoy skating and my goal is always to support long-term growth, development and passion for the sport vs success at a young age, injuries and burn out.

Additional Information

I have managed my own career to become a National, World and Olympic champion. I have an abundance of knowledge when it comes to elite level figure skating that is very unique to Skate Oakville. I work as a television analyst for CBC and I have also worked running skating seminars and camps all over the World for the past 20 years.
