Volunteer Information
Skate Oakville would like to acknowledge the support of all those who volunteer to assist the club in various ways. Without the support of our volunteers we would not be able to provide the events and opportunities to our skaters that we currently do. Volunteering allows you to participate in new opportunities, meet new people and make a positive impact on skating in the Oakville community.
Below you will find information regarding our volunteer policy, and additional information you may need as a volunteer. The volunteer policy is subject to change each year, and volunteer commitments may not stay the same as previous years. The volunteer policy must be agreed to at the time of registration.

The Buy-Out is not a one time purchase and must be paid yearly, per commitment, if you choose not to volunteer.
I don't have time to volunteer. What are my options?
If you can't find the time in your schedule to volunteer, we understand. That is why we offer a Volunteer Buy-Out. This Buy-Out must be purchased per commitment owing to Skate Oakville. The Buy-Out is not a one time purchase and must be paid yearly if you choose not to volunteer.

You must register for/or have completed all commitments by the date specified in the volunteer policy.

Commitments must be fulfilled by the parent/guardian of the skater(s).
Can my student volunteer for their required school hours?
Our volunteer positions are for parent volunteers to fulfill their obligations for the year. Students who need volunteer hours, are age 11 or older, and who are skating on STAR B or higher sessions can be a Program Assistant for our CanSkate programs. Skaters must attend the training session in September of each year.
What if I refuse to volunteer?

I don't recall seeing a volunteer policy when I registered?
All skaters registering in STARSkate, Competitive or Synchronized Skating programs must accept the Volunteer Policy at the time of registration. We suggest all members take the time to read each policy before accepting.
I have a specialized skill or related experience that I think would benefit Skate Oakville. Who do I contact?
Please email volunteer@skateoakville.ca with the information and should we require that specific skill or experience the Volunteer Coordinator will be in contact.
All the volunteer positions seem to be full, now what?
Please email volunteer@skateoakville.ca and the Volunteer Coordinator will do their best to find something for you to assist with. However, volunteer positions are first come, first served, and we do not recommend leaving selecting a position to the last minute.
